BRIDGES FOR A JUST COMMUNITY PARTNERS WITH CET PUBLIC TELEVISION ON A PROGRAM OF JEWISH-MUSLIM DIALOGUE
While a ceasefire is in effect in the Middle East, many in Greater Cincinnati still aren’t clear on what triggered the events of the past month or fully understand the history behind the violence. CET, Greater Cincinnati public television, and BRIDGES for a Just Community joined together to broadcast a special dialogue to illustrate how the events over half a world away are impacting the lives of many people here at home.
Titled Jewish-Muslim Relations: A Cincinnati Perspective, this program seeks to shed light on the history of the conflict globally, as well as the repercussions felt locally by two faith communities - American Jews and American Muslims - both with strong family, cultural and religious ties to this troubled part of the world. The program aired Wednesday, August 23rd from 8pm to 9pm and was moderated by CET Focus host Kathy Lehr. The broadcast featured the perspectives of Dr. Inayat Malik, a Muslim, and Jerome Teller, Esq. a Jew, followed by questions from a studio audience. The program is available for viewing online on www.CETconnect.org. Watch the program now.
"We are proud to partner with the BRIDGES for a Just Community to present this timely program," says CET
President and CEO Susan Howarth. "CET’s mission is to enlighten as well as educate and this is an issue that affects all Cincinnatians -- not just those of the Jewish and Muslim faiths."
"As leaders dedicated to promoting respect and understanding among all groups, BRIDGES for a Just Community is pleased to work with CET to present a balanced view of the issues and to challenge people in our community to confront inter-group prejudice," said Mitchel Livingston, board chair of the BRIDGES for a Just Community. "This program is part of an ongoing Muslim-Jewish dialogue that the BRIDGES for a Just Community conducts and we encourage anyone interested in participating in future forums to contact the BRIDGES for a Just Community." |
